Business continuity
Zero downtime during the rebuild
Challenge
Estfeed was originally built by an outside firm that relied on subcontractors with no energy-sector expertise. Elering inherited large volumes of data, dozens of interdependent access rules and significant technical debt – while the platform still had to keep serving millions of daily energy market transactions.
Solution
- Agile, collaborative practices. A shift from quick fixes to Kanban, agile design and requirements-driven processes; Elering’s own architects lead the vision and SRINI delivers it.
- AI-powered productivity. Windsurf, Gemini, NotebookLM and ChatGPT speed up development, documentation and translation across the whole team.
- Custom-built AI testing tool. A Python-based AI testing tool made regression testing 10–50× faster – essential given the system’s size and complexity.
- Investment in domain understanding. Unlike previous subcontractors, SRINI invested time in understanding energy-sector IT, so every solution accounts for regulatory and operational reality.
Results
- Estfeed continues to serve millions of energy market transactions without interruption, including during the rebuild.
- Regression cycles that used to take weeks now finish in a fraction of the time.
- Elering has moved from fragmented outsourcing to a model where the in-house team and SRINI work hand in hand.
- New features and fixes reach users much faster – critical in the fast-changing European energy market.
Key takeawayCritical national infrastructure can be rebuilt in flight – but only with an investment in domain understanding, AI-paired development and a client team that owns the vision.
