Challenge
MISX, the PPA’s new case management system, needed a modern way to manage the surveillance of objects and persons. The previous solution did not scale, relied heavily on manual work and offered investigators little support in tracking links – between vehicles and persons, for example.
Solution
- Microservices-based surveillance module. A next-generation MISX surveillance module built on a modular architecture for scalability and adaptability.
- Automated pattern detection. Surfaces links between entities – for example, connecting a person to a vehicle in the context of a traffic incident.
- Dynamic form generation. The interface adapts to the data type and context, reducing the need for training.
- Rule-based automation. Statuses and user permissions change automatically based on rules – age, event deadlines, case status.
- X-Road data validation. Real-time cross-checks against national registers keep data accurate and up to date.
Results
- Faster decision-making and significantly more process automation in surveillance workflows.
- AI-assisted features reduce manual work in identifying relevant data links.
- The modular structure can also be adapted to future case-handling and administrative workflows.
- A more responsive public safety tool that saves investigators’ time.
Key takeawayInvestigative workflows gain more from quietly working automated pattern detection than from flashy AI features – speed and reliability matter most.
